Born in Backnang / Germany, Michaela Reinhardt studied experimental painting with the artist Winfried Zimmermann at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule of Kiel and painting with Sergio Saroni and Eugenio Comencini at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Turin.

She also completed her studies at the teacher training college in Flensburg and in Kiel, where she graduated in German and Art for teaching at secondary schools.

She studied art history, German linguistics and literature at the Universities of Kiel and Turin, graduated in Lingue e Letterature Moderne from the University of Turin and did her doctorate on poetic language in theater texts at the University of Pavia.

Since 1993 she has been teaching German at the University of Piemonte Orientale.


She lives and works in Turin and Vercelli / Italy.

Kunst ist immer schon deswegen politisch, weil sie absolute Freiheit genießt und diese vorlebt. Wer diese Freiheit nutzt, bildet sie gleichzeitig ab. In Kunstwerken manifestiert sich also diese Freiheit – machst Du Kunst, bist Du frei. Und zeigst Freiheit.

L'arte è sempre politica perché gode di assoluta libertà e dà l'esempio. Chiunque usi questa libertà la riflette anche. Quindi questa libertà si manifesta nelle opere d'arte: se fai arte, sei liberǝ. E mostri libertà.

Art is always political because it enjoys absolute freedom and sets an example. Anyone who uses this freedom also reflects it. So this freedom manifests itself in works of art – if you make art, you are free. And show freedom.
